Hair For You

Alternatives Beauty students will create wigs for minority women who suffer with different diagnoses. Whether it is cancer, alopecia, burn victims or autoimmune disease. Many organizations offer wig services, but not enough for minorities and/or textured hair.

Hair for You — Free Wigs for Women and Children Facing Medical Hair Loss

When illness takes your hair, it can take something deeper with it — your confidence, your identity, your sense of self. For minority women and children with textured hair, finding a wig that actually fits their hair type and reflects who they are can feel impossible. Most wig programs aren’t built for them.

Hair for You is.

This program provides free, custom-crafted wigs to minority women and children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions — including cancer, alopecia, autoimmune disease, and burn injuries. Every wig is created by students at Alternatives Beauty School under professional supervision, using techniques specifically designed for textured, natural, and Afro-coiffed hair.

Why This Program Exists

There are thousands of wig donation organizations across the country. Very few of them serve Black women and girls well.

The vast majority of donated wigs are designed for straight or wavy European hair textures. For a woman with 4C hair, a wig that doesn’t match her natural texture doesn’t just feel wrong — it can feel like one more way the system doesn’t see her.

Hair for You was created to fill that gap. We believe that every woman deserves to feel like herself

— especially during the hardest moments of her life.
